Every profile. One order.

Soffit and fascia panels are available in three configurations — vented, solid, and perforated — plus metal fascia profiles for a fully finished roofline. All colour-matched to your panel order.

Vented Soffit Panels

Perforated panels with a continuous ventilation pattern — the standard choice for most residential and light commercial overhang applications. Allows proper attic air circulation while maintaining a clean, finished appearance.

Solid Soffit Panels

Flat, unperforated soffit panels for soffits where ventilation is handled elsewhere (ridge/gable vents) or where a fully closed underside is specified. Clean, smooth face — identical in appearance to flush wall panels.

Metal Fascia Panels

Flat metal fascia profiles that wrap the rafter tails and provide a clean, finished roofline edge. Available in multiple heights to suit standard and deep rafter tail configurations. Pairs with vented or solid soffit for a complete eave system.

Order it all at once.

Most roofline problems — mismatched colours, wrong panel widths, missing trim pieces — happen when soffit, fascia, and cladding are ordered separately from different suppliers. Ordering everything from Onsite Metals eliminates all of it.

Vented vs solid which do you need?

The right soffit type depends on your ventilation strategy. Here’s how to choose — or call us and we’ll help you spec it correctly.
Most common choice for residential builds

Vented / perforated soffit

Vented soffit panels have a continuous perforation pattern that allows outside air to enter the attic space at the eaves. This intake air rises through the attic and exits at the ridge vent — the foundation of a balanced attic ventilation system. Required by the Alberta Building Code for most residential attic assemblies.

Perforated patterns vary by product — ask us about net free area (NFA) ratings if your project has specific ventilation requirements.

Used when ventilation is handled elsewhere

Solid soffit

Solid soffit panels are specified when the ventilation strategy doesn’t rely on eave intake — for example, when gable vents, low-wall vents, or continuous ridge vents provide sufficient air circulation without eave contribution. Also used on unvented roof assemblies and commercial canopy soffits.

Solid soffits give a slightly cleaner visual appearance and are preferred by some architects on contemporary designs where the ventilation pattern detracts from the flat aesthetic.

How it goes together.

01

Fascia board & nailer

Install the wood sub-fascia or nailer board to the rafter tails at the correct height. This provides the substrate for the metal fascia and the nailing surface for the soffit receiver channel.
02

Receiver channel

Fasten the J-channel or receiver channel to the wall at the back of the soffit and to the sub-fascia at the front. This channel holds the soffit panels and allows them to expand and contract with temperature changes.
03

Soffit panels

Slide soffit panels into the receiver channel from the wall side, working across the overhang. Panels interlock along their length — no exposed fasteners on the face. For vented soffits, orient panels so the perforation pattern runs perpendicular to the eave for maximum airflow.
04

Metal fascia

Install the metal fascia panel over the sub-fascia, lapping under the drip edge and over the top edge of the soffit receiver. Fasten through the top flange with colour-matched screws. The result is a fully concealed, weather-tight eave system.

Soffit & fascia FAQs.

Do the soffit panels colour-match my roofing panels exactly?
Yes — provided you order them together in the same batch. All our roofing, siding, soffit, and fascia panels use the same Kynar 500 PVDF coating system in the same 40+ colour range. When ordered in the same run, the colour match is guaranteed. If you’re adding soffit later to a previously completed roof, contact us and we’ll do our best to match the original colour — though batch variation is always possible with any painted product.
The answer depends on your ventilation strategy for the attic or roof assembly. For most residential builds with a vented attic, you need vented soffit at the eaves working in combination with a ridge vent — this creates the intake-to-exhaust airflow that prevents moisture buildup and ice dams. If your project has a different ventilation approach (gable vents, low-wall vents, unvented assembly), solid soffit may be appropriate. When in doubt, check with your designer or the Alberta Building Code requirements for your assembly type.
In most cases, yes — metal soffit can be installed over existing soffit if the substrate is sound and level. The existing surface needs to be able to accept the receiver channel fasteners, and the new soffit must clear any existing trim or transitions cleanly. This approach avoids demolition and is common on renovation projects. Let us know your existing conditions and we can advise on the best approach.
Soffit is the horizontal panel that covers the underside of the roof overhang — the surface you see when you look up at the eave from outside. Fascia is the vertical panel that runs along the front of the rafter tails, forming the visible edge of the roofline and typically the surface the eavestrough attaches to. Together, soffit and fascia form the complete eave enclosure system — and ordering both from the same manufacturer ensures they match perfectly.
Yes — we supply J-channel, receiver channel, F-channel, and any custom brake-formed trim pieces needed to complete your eave system. Include your overhang depth and eave configuration in your quote request and we’ll include all the trim in the package. Everything is colour-matched and arrives with your panels.
